Two Roman sculpted stone panels, likely to be the earliest known portraits in Wales, are on display for the first time at Amgueddfa Cymru.

As the National Wool Museum marks 50 years of educating and inspiring visitors, the combination of traditional craftsmanship, modern technology and contemporary art demonstrates how Wales' textile heritage continues to evolve while remaining firmly rooted in its past. 

The wait is over. Helios a seven-metre-wide installation of the Sun has landed at National Museum Cardiff and from 10am tomorrow (21 July 2026), visitors can experience the artwork by Luke Jerram throughout the school summer holidays for free.
